Lynn MacRitchie was one of the three-person organising committee of the Students Representative Council which initiated this conference at Edinburgh College of Art to address the relationship of art and society. Invited speakers included Scottish artists and intellectuals, with other guests from the rest of the UK.
She suggested that David Medalla and John Dugger take part, having seen the “Art and Artists” article about their People’s Participation Pavilion at Document 5 in 1972. She also suggested inviting the Artists Placement Group, the Artists Union, Action Space and Steven Willats. David Medalla and John Dugger (Artists Liberation Front), John Latham and Barbara Steveni (Artists Placement Group), Marc Chaimowicz (Artists Union), Ken Turner (Action Space) and Steven Willatts all accepted and attended.
