As President of the Students Representative Council, Lynn MacRitchie initiated the student-organised Participation Art Event at Edinburgh College of Art. David Medalla presented “A Stitch in Time” and “Porcelain Wedding”. John Dugger presented “People Weave a House”. Paul Neagu, Alistair Park and Roger Wilson and Tim Jones also presented works. The event brought students and staff together over five days to create collaborative art works. This was the first iteration of Medalla’s “Porcelain Wedding”, subsequently presented at Art Meeting Place in London in 1974. Controversial at the time, the event is now considered prophetic of the changes which, over the following decades, were to transform how art can be made and appreciated by artists and public alike.
